CLEANING WINDOW GLASS AND FRAMES

It’s important to use only mild cleaners on and around your windows. The following cleaners must be avoided in order to preserve the look and function of your windows and prevent voiding the warranty:

Solvents

Abrasives (such as Ajax® or Comet®)

Acid-based cleaners (hydrochloric or muriatic acid based cleaners, such as Brick Wash)

Petroleum-based cleaners

Instead, choose a standard glass cleaner for the glass and a mild detergent for the frame. Use a soft, lint-free cloth or paper towel to apply the cleaner. After application, be sure to rinse all dirt, debris and soap off of the glass and then dry the surface.

If your windows are exposed to hard water (such as from lawn hoses or sprinkler systems), we recommend that you promptly clean/dry windows following exposure.

And remember, as with all glass:

Do not use scrapers or razor blades to remove stubborn deposits or labels

Do not allow splashed material such as paint, stucco, mortar or drywall putty to dry/remain on a window frame/seal/glass

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE

Every 6-12 months, it’s important to thoroughly clean your windows’ hardware, any hardware contact points on casements and awnings, and the tracks of slider-style windows. Spray a silicone lubricant on hardware points of contact, inside tracks and on the bottom and top of slider profiles. Check all drain holes, inside and out, and ensure they are free from obstructions. Check all weatherstrips and bulb seals for tears and looseness, and replace/reinsert if found.
