SUNROOF VS. MOONROOF: WHAT’S IN YOUR VEHICLE?

Do you know the difference between a sunroof and a moonroof?

A sunroof is a solid metal panel in the roof of your car that can be opened by hand, either by tilting it upward or removing it completely. This feature allows you to bask in the sunlight and enjoy the breeze on a nice day. Sunroofs are more commonly found in older vehicles. A moonroof is made of tinted glass that gives you an incredible view of the sky at all times. This feature is usually controlled electronically and can be made to tilt up or slide open, depending on how strong of a breeze you want. Despite their obvious visible difference, the terms “sunroof” and “moonroof” are sometimes used interchangeably. If a car was made in the last few years, chances are it’s already equipped with a moonroof. However, it’s also possible to have a sunroof or moonroof installed on certain models. To find out if this is an option for your car, speak with a technician at your local auto glass repair shop.
